Our office will conduct an initial intake visit and health screening before receiving Ozone Therapy.
Blood and lab work may assess your overall health status and determine what your body needs. Once lab work is reviewed and analyzed, a follow-up appointment will review treatment recommendations.
The type of in-office ozone procedures will depend on your health screening, lab analysis, and professional recommendations from a medical team member.
Monthly visits or weekly treatments are based upon provider recommendations.
Side effects will depend on the type of Ozone Therapy administered.
IV Ozone: Similar to all IV therapies, risk of bruising, pain, or swelling at the injection site is possible. In addition, some may experience light-headedness or dizziness during treatment. After treatment, some report fatigue, muscle aches, or mild flu-like symptoms. However, most side effects are mild and short-term.
Prolozone: The most common side effects are pain, soreness, and a sense of fullness or heaviness at the injection site. In addition, bruising may occur but is not always noticeable as it's usually mild. Pain or soreness typically resolves within one to three days.
Ozone Insufflation: Most side effects are often minor; however, the most common side effects include:
- Skin irritation such as redness or burning. Individuals with sensitive skin may be more prone to side effects to the skin.
- Respiratory problems may occur if ozone is inhaled. Ozone can irritate the lungs and airways, causing difficulty breathing.
- Ozone can suppress the immune system, making you more susceptible to infections.
- Ozone can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea in some patients.

The three methods to administer Ozone Therapy include:
IV Ozone: Saline-infused IV ozone therapy is quick and highly effective. Specific ozone dosing is administered via standard IV procedure and typically lasts between 20 to 40 minutes.
Prolozone: Local ozone injections improve oxygenation of ligaments and tendons. This method is typically paired with Prolotherapy to maximize healing. In addition, numbing agents are used to minimize discomfort before injections.
Ozone Insufflation: Specialized applications devices deliver local ozone that can be applied rectally, vaginally, and in the ear.
